3.16.20 COVID-19 Update

March 16, 2020 | Posted in Media

Dear residents, families and friends,

In an effort to keep you updated on the COVID-19 virus, we are happy to report that to date; NO resident has been diagnosed with COVID-19. As you are aware, we have put several procedures into place in an effort to keep the COVID-19 and other viruses out of our buildings. To date, we have enacted a restricted visitation policy and we have been screening all essential employees and outside agencies for symptoms including fever. Through this screening process, we were able to identify an employee with a fever; this employee was working at our Chateau de Notre Dame Facility. This employee was sent home immediately, the employee was not allowed past the screening point. This employee has since tested positive for COVID-19. We are working with our Medical Director and the Office of Public Health to screen other employees and residents who may have come into contact with this employee.

Also, we have had a resident test positive for the seasonal flu. In an effort to protect our residents from contracting any virus, we have implemented the following:

– Staff working in areas where flu has been diagnosed and where the affected employee last worked, will wear masks. The purpose of these masks is to protect the residents from any potential germs.

– The Medical Director has also prescribed prophylactic doses of Tamiflu to all residents around this area, to help lessen the spread and effects of the flu to the residents

We will keep you updated of any new information as it becomes available. Please refer to our website for any updates. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time and want to assure you that we are following every recommendation given to make every effort to keep any viruses from spreading through the community.
